Mumbai Indians register first win in IPL, Knight Riders lose
In reply, Mumbai Indians lost three quick wickets and were reeling at 25/3, but Bravo and Uthappa batted superbly to pull it off for the team. They put up an unbeaten partnership of 113 runs to see Mumbai Indians through. Bravo remained unbeaten on 64, while Uthappa remained not out on 34. Mumbai Indians reached the target in 18.4 overs. Bravo was declared 'Man of the Match' for his all-round performance.
Harbhajan-Sreesanth fallout: Umpire Amish Saheba suspended for 2 IPL matches
According to Saheba, Sreesanth had resorted to excessive sledging against the Mumbai Indians players. The BCCI took a strong exception to Saheba's comments in the media and suspended hi for two IPL matches. He was issued a show cause notice. After the ban on Harbhajan, pressure is mounting on the BCCI to act tough against Sreesanth, who has been taunting and sledging the opponents on the filed consistently.
Meanwhile, South African coach Mike Arthur made a sensational revelation. He said that Sreesanth continued to taunt and abuse South African players during the Kanpur test. According to Arthur, Sreesanth even got personal with A B De Villiers. Arthur also revealed that Harbhajan Singh had an altercation with Prince and he even apologized to Prince in presence of match referee. If such volatile players play against each other, anything can happen and that exactly happened at Mohali.

Gilchrist remained unbeaten on 109 off 48 balls, while Laxman remained not out on 36. Gilchrist hit 10 sixes.
Earlier, the Mumbai Indians managed to score only 154/7 in 20 overs. Their batsmen never looked like playing a crunch game and threw their wickets out of desperation. Abhishek Nayar and Bravo scored 34 runs each. Pollock scored 31. For Deccan Chargers, RP Singh, Bangar and Afridi took 2 wickets each. Mumbai Indians lost their fourth successive match and is the only team to have a blank in the point table. Was Harbhajan Singh guilty in Australia?
The entire nation stood by Harbhajan Singh, when he was banned on charges of racism. The BCCI, millions of cricket fans, senior cricketers, Team India and the media, rallied behind Harbhajan and accused Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds and Matthew Hayden of playing dirty tricks to trap Harbhajan.
We rejoiced when BCCI used its muscle-flexing to get Harbhajan out of the trouble. Harbhajan's acquittal in racism charges, was celebrated a victory for Indian cricket and people of India. But did Harbhajan deserve that admiration and support?
When Hayden called Harbhajan "an obnoxious little weed", there was an outrage in India and Cricket Australia was forced to reprimand him. But yesterday's incident in which Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth and left him crying on the field, raised serious questions about Harbhajan's mental condition. It was irrational, silly, deplorable and punishable. Physical assault on a teammate was the last thing we wanted from our cricketers.
The BCCI acted tough by suspending Harbhajan from the IPL. It was confirmed that Harbhajan did hit Sreesanth. The available video footage made BCCI officials believe that Harbhajan was guilty and must be punished. People, who rallied behind Harbhajan, today feel ashamed that they supported such a 'man boy'. A person, who could hit his own teammate, could have said anything to Symonds. Yes, Symonds' allegations could have been true, but his voice was suppressed by us.
Now it has been proved beyond that Harbhajan is a black spot on Indian cricket. He not only brought shame to the game, but also created a divide within Team India. Ironically, Symonds, Ponting and Hayden are currently playing in the IPL and they must be laughing at the incident.
The Aussies could not succeed in getting a ban on Harbhajan despite their best efforts. But now the BCCI is all set to ban Harbhajan when the hearing takes place. There is conclusive evidence to prove that Harbhajan physically assaulted Sreesanth. There is no way he can escape the punishment. He could face a ban of 5 test matches or 10 ODIs under Level 4 offence. Even a life ban is a possibility, unless BCCI relents.
Sreesanth retracts, says Harbhajan hit him hard
Sreesanth also said that he never expected such behaviour from Harbhajan and could do nothing about the assault. Since he is part of the Indian squad and wanted to play for the country on long-term, Sreesanth just tried to forget the incident and forgave Harbhajan. However, the BCCI, media and public are in no mood to spare Harbhajan.
Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets
Rajasthan Royals had it easy, as they reached the target in 17.1 overs. Graeme Smith scored 49, while Shane Watson yet again played a great innings with the bat. He remained unbeaten on 61. Yusuf Pathan scored 21. Shane Watson was declared "Man of the Match" for his all-round performance.

Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians in a Cliffhanger
Chasing a victory target of 209, Mumbai Indians started well, but lost Jayasuriya (20) when he looked set. Ronchi was first to go, as he was run out. Mumbai Indians recovered from the loss, as Robin Uthappa scored 43 off 36 balls. Bravo too contributed 24. Once they departed, Mumbai Indians again found themselves in trouble. However, Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh added quick runs through boundaries and sixes to revive Mumbai's hope. Harbhajan departed at 28.
Mumbai Indians needed 19 runs from the last over bowled by Joginder Sharma. Nayar hit two consecutive boundaries off the first two balls. Now they needed 11 off 4 balls. Next ball was a no ball, but Nayar did the mistake of taking a single. As a result, Nehra missed the shot, even if it was a free hit. Nehra took a single on the next delivery and Mumbai Indians needed 8 from 2 balls. Nayar failed to hold on to his nerves and could manage only 1 run.
Chennai Super Kings won the match by 6 runs, as Mumbai Indians finished at 202/7 in 20 overs. Abhishek Nayar remained unbeaten on 45 off 20 balls. For Super Kings, Muralitharan and Joginder Sharma took 2 wickets each. Matthew Hayden was declared "Man of the Match".

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. The team scored 165/6 in 20 overs. Robin Utthappa made 48, while Jayasuriya and Pollock contributed 29 and 28 respectively. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Royal Challengers rode high on a valuable 55-run fifth wicket partnership between Boucher and Kallis and reached the target with 2 balls to spare. Boucher remained unbeaten on 39. Dravid scored 32, while Kallis contributed 25.
Shame at Eden Gardens, Knight Riders win amid High Drama
Deccan Chargers, Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. But their batsmen were shocked and surprised by the nature of the wicket. Nobody had expected to get such a wicket in a T20 match, where spinners bowled with slips and forward short-leg fielders. Deccan Chargers could score only 110 runs in 18.4 overs. Symonds scored 32, while Gilchrist made 23. For Knight Riders, Kartik took 3 wickets, while Agarkar claimed 2 wickets.
Since the wicket deteriorated further, Knight Riders too had a tough time, but finally they held on to their nerves and won the match by 5 wickets with one over to spare. David Hussey made an unbeaten 38. For Deccan Chargers, Ojha and Vaas took 2 wickets each. The wicket was so bad that Laxman and Ganguly got deadly blows while batting.
If the pitch produced a shocker, the organizers brought shame with their poor arrangements. When the match was on its climax, flood lights stopped working due to a sudden power failure. The match was to be stopped for more than half an hour, bringing displeasure and anger to millions of cricket fans. The BCCI must take notice from this match. It was not a good sign for the much-hyped IPL.

Kanpur Pitch comes under ICC Scanner, BCCI in Trouble
As expected, the controversial Kanpur wicket has come under the ICC scanner. After match referee Roshan Mahanama complained against the 'under-prepared' Kanpur wicket, where India won the match within 3 days. The ICC shot off a letter to the BCCI for an explanation in this matter.
The dusty pitch, cracks and uneven bounce proved too difficult for the batsmen to bat on that wicket. Sourav Ganguly was the lone batsman to excel on that pitch with a well-made 87. If the ICC finds BCCI's response unsatisfactory, it can even ban Kanpur from hosting any international matches.

Kanpur Pitch may bring 'Shock' and 'Surprise'
--By Sagar Satapathy, Editor-in-ChiefBarely 24 hours before the third and final test match at Kanpur, both Indian and South African teams expressed concern over the pitch. The pitch condition remains a mystery, although both captains had a close look on the pitch on Wednesday. While the curator predicts a sporting pitch, reports say otherwise.
South African coach Mickey Arthur has described the Kanpur pitch as a "shocker". South African Captain has expressed unhappiness about the Kanpur wicket. He went on to say, " it can be insulting for a team if they can win only on similar surface". It was a direct comment on Team India.
The Kanpur wicket looks high and dry. The pitch already looks slightly under-prepared. Since all grasses were cut off, the scorching heat and sunlight will bring more cracks on the pitch. The pitch is expected to take turn from the afternoon on Day 1 or from second day. The team, which bats first, will have an upperhand.
It's a gamble for Team India, as their batsmen may or may not be able to face the South African bowling attack. On the contrary, South African batsmen McKenzie, Amla, Kallis and De Villiers have proved that they could handle the spin attack in an effective manner. An injured and out-of-form Kumble is a big concern for India. A lot will depend on how Harbhajan exploits the conditions. The indications are that match would be finished within 3/4 days, but winner could be any side.

Selectors announced a 16-member Squad for Kanpur Test
In all probability, S Sreesanth won't be playing the Kanpur test. Both R P Singh and Kanpur disappointed the team management with their lacklustre bowling performance. Although Irfan Pathan was no better, he did well with the bat. India is likely to go with Yuvraj or Kaif into the third test. Pathan can still retain his place.
Team:
Anil Kumble (c), Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, M S Dhoni, Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Piyush Chawla, Romesh Powar, S Sreesanth and Munaf Patel.

They surprised everyone by declaring their first innings at the overnight score of 494/7 and sent India to bat again. South African bowlers were on the offensive again and India lost Sehwag, Dravid and Jaffer with only 70 runs on board. India were 78/3 when reports last came in. Villiers scores Double Century, South Africa's march continues
Indian bowlers and fielders looked helpless on the field, as South Africa piled up 494/7 in the first innings when rain stopped play. India's problems compounded further, as the Proteas now have 418-run lead over India with three days to go. Only a miracle can save India from a humiliating innings defeat. De Villiers scored his first double century in test cricket and remained unbeaten on 217. Kallis made 132. For India, Harbhajan took 4 wickets.Live from Motera: Villiers, Kallis score Centuries, South Africa on Top
South Africa extended its lead over India on the second day of the second test match at Motera, Ahmedabad. Both De Villiers and Kallis applied themselves well and went on to score centuries. Indian bowlers failed to get any breakthrough, as South Africa reached 313/4 just after lunch. Kallis scored his 30th test century. Both batsmen were unbeaten on 103 each when reports last came in.South Africa has got a lead of 237 runs and still have 6 wickets in hand. In all probability, India is heading for a humiliating innings defeat against South Africa in this test. BCCI: Shoaib not to play in IPL
South Africa dominate the proceedings at Motera
From Glory to Shame: India bowled out for 76 at Motera
Shame! Shame! Indian batsmen produced a shameful bating display at Motera, Ahmedabad. The team bowled out for a paltry 76 with only two batsmen reaching double figure. The "Indian Lions" could play only 20 overs and returned to the pavilion before lunch. Pathan remained unbeaten on 21, while Dhoni scored 14. India got 19 extra runs.South African fast bowlers exploited the conditions very well and never let Indians off the hook. Dale Steyn took 5 wickets, while Ntini took 3. Morkel took 2 wickets. South African used only three bowlers to rattle the Indian batting order. It seems the current IPL engagement is heavily affected Indian team's performance, as most players even skip net practice to attend IPL functions and shootings.
Makhaya Ntini on Fire at Motera, India in deep trouble
After a run feast in Chennai, nobody expected the Indian top order to collapse like a pack of cards. But, it happened. India won a good toss on a solid batting track, but failed to take advantage of it. The first hour was very crucial, but Indian batsmen could not live up to expectations. Makhaya Ntini wrecked the Indian innings by his deadly bowling. He removed Jaffer, Laxman and Ganguly cheaply. Virender Sehwag, who created history at Chennai, was bowled by Steyn. Indian lost 4 wickets for only 30 runs on board and is in danger of scoring less than 150 or 200. Since India is short of a batsman, the team seems to be in real danger.
Live from Ahmedabad: India win Toss, elect to Bat first
India won the crucial toss in the second test match against South Africa at Motera, Ahmedabad and decided to bat first. Since the pitch looks good for batting and will take a turn on the 4th and 5th day, India holds advantage over South Africa. The Indian team management played a master stroke by including all-rounder Irfan Pathan in place on injured Sachin Tendulkar. Ishant Sharma was not included, as he has not fully recovered from his injury.
Teams:
India:
Wasim Jaffer , Virender Sehwag , Rahul Dravid , Saurav Ganguly , VVS Laxman , Mahendra Singh Dhoni (w) , Irfan Pathan , Anil Kumble (c) , Harbhajan Singh , Rudra Pratap Singh , S Sreesanth

Breaking News! Shoaib Akhtar banned for 5 Years
Breaking News! Pakistan's speedster Shoaib Akhtar, has been banned from International cricket for 5 years. The decision was taken by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) a few hours ago. Akhtar was on two-year probation for hitting Mohammad Asif with a cricket bat. He recently criticized the PCB for not giving him a central playing contract. The Pakistan Board was critical of Shoaib's attitude and indiscipline and felt that his service was no longer required. The PCB also said that Shoaib's presence would have damaging effect on Pakistan team and the image of Pakistan cricket.
The decision virtually ended Shoaib's illustrious cricket career. Although he can still appeal against the decision, it is unlikely that he would return to Pakistan team. However, he can play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
