Chennai Test: Strauss hits Century, England 229/5 on Day 1
Breaking News! England had the advantage till one hour after lunch. But later, they lost it. At the end of Day 1, the result was not so good for England, as they lost opener Strauss just before a few overs. Strauss hit a magnificent century and was out for 123. Strauss and Cook added 118 runs for the first wicket. Cook scored 52.Other England batsmen failed out live up to expectations. Bell scored 17, while Pietersen and Collingwood remained unbeaten on 4 and 9 respectively. At close, England were 229/5. Flintoff remained unbeaten on 18. For India, Zaheer and Harbhajan took 2 wickets each. Amit Mishra took one wicket.
