Ricky Ponting: Senior Player asked me to drop complaint against Harbhajan

After Adam Gilchrist, Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has created a major controversy by revealing that he was told by a senior players of the Indian team to drop racism charges against Harbhajan Singh during the Sydney test. Ponting made the revelation in his upcoming autobiography, 'Captain's Diary 2008'.

Ricky Ponting did not name any player to avoid controversy, as he has already seen how Gilchrist had to eat humble pie after terming Sachin Tendulkar "bad sport" and "liar" in his book. "On the night after we made our on-field report about Harbhajan, I had a phone conversation with a senior member of the Indian touring party, who asked me straight to drop the complaint", wrote Ponting.

Ponting also said that the concerned player tried to convince him citing the lengthy legal process and repercussions while asking him to withdraw complaint against Harbhajan. Ponting's latest remarks could be a publicity stunt for his book. But he did more damage to his stature by not revealing the name of the player.
