India finds themselves in a commanding position against Australia in the Mohali Test, thanks to timely knocks from Sourav Ganguly and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Sourav Ganguly scored his 16th test century and answered his critics by his consistent performance in this series. Resuming from the overnight score of 311/5, India lost night watchman Ishant early, but Ganguly and Dhoni batted superbly and added an unbeaten 100-runs for the seventh wicket.

Ganguly went on to complete his 16th century with a boundary off Cameroon White, while Dhoni, who batted explosively, scored his 10th test fifty. He did not last long after scoring the century and fell at 102. White took the wicket. India were 435 /7 when reports last came in. Dhoni was batting on 62.
