First ODI: Sri Lanka beat India by 8 Wickets
The Indian batsmen yet again failed before the magic of Mendis and Murali. On a flat batting wicket, the batsmen failed miserably and Sri Lanka had a cake walk with a 8-wicket win over India. Indian batsmen looked very helpless from the very beginning even when the seamers were bowling. In a shameful display of batting, India bowled out for 146 in just 46 overs. Yuvraj Singh was the top scorer with 23. Rohit Sharma made 19. For Sri Lanka, Mendis and Murali took 3 wickets each. Kulasekhara took 2 wickets.
The Indian bowlers had nothing to defend and they gave in to Sri Lankan batsmen Jayawardene and Kapugedera. Jayawardene remained unbeaten on 61, while Kapugedera remained unbeaten on 45. Sri Lanka reached the target in 34.5 overs. For India, Munaf Patel claimed both Sri Lankan wickets. India's nemesis Ajantha Mendis was declared "Man of the Match".
