Shoaib Akhtar's ban reduced to 18 Months, fined Rs. 70 lakhs

The PCB Appeals Tribunal appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board has reduced the five-year ban imposed on pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar to 18 months. However, Shoaib was fined Rs. 70 lakhs. The tribunal admitted that original punishment was too harsh and Shoaib deserved a leniency, as he always publicly apologized for his behaviour and past deeds.

The tribunal also recommended that Shoaib should be given proper counseling. Shoaib can appeal against the tribunal decision if he wishes.
