Asia Cup 2008: Sri Lanka beat UAE by 142 runs

There was no surprise, as Sri Lanka registered a comprehensive victory over UAE. Sri Lanka beat UAE by 142 runs. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. They piled up 290/9 in 50 overs. Udawatte scored 67, while Jayawardene made 61. Weeraratne and Kulasekara contributed 40 and 37 runs each. For UAE, Zahid Shah took 3 wickets. Fahad Alhashmi and Mohammad Tauqir took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 291, UAE was bundled out for 148 in 36.3 overs. Amjad Ali was the top scorer with 77. For Sri Lanka, Ajantha Mendis took 5 wickets, while Thushara took 2 wickets. Mendis was declared "Man of the Match".
