Sachin back, Jayasuriya scores Century, Mumbai Indians trounce Chennai Super Kings

Sanath Jayasuriya regained his magical batting skills when he got a chance to open the innings with Sachin Tendulkar for the first time in the IPL. While Sachin batted cautiously with accurate shot selections, Jayasuriya was unstoppable. He batted with fire and flame, as Mumbai Indians scored 78/0 in first six overs. Dhoni and his men had no answers for Jayasuriya. Both batsmen added 82 runs for the first wicket. Sachin could score only 12 off 16 balls.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai Super Kings lost quick wickets and were 48/4 at one stage. However, Badrinath and Dhoni scored 71 runs in the last five overs to taker the score to 156/6 in 20 overs. Badrinath was the top scorer with 53. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 43. Fleming contributed 26. For Mumbai Indians, Kulkarni took 3 wickets, while Bravo picked up 2 wickets.

The victory target 157 looked so easy that Mumbai Indians achieved it in just 13.5 overs, losing just 1 wicket. Mumbai Indians won the match by 9 wickets. With this win, they are now back in contention for a semi-final berth. For Mumbai Indians, Jayasuriya remained unbeaten on 114 off 48 balls (9 boundaries and 11 sixes). Obviously, he was declared "Man of the Match".
