Mumbai Indians register first win in IPL, Knight Riders lose

The Mumbai Indians finally broke the jinx and registered their first win in the IPL. They overcame the challenge of Kolkata Knight Riders and won comprehensively by 7 wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat. But their batsmen failed yet again. Pollock removed Ganguly and McCullum in the very first over. The Knight Riders managed to put up 137/8 in 20 overs. D Das scored 29, LR Shukla 40* off 22 balls. For Mumbai Indians, Jayasuriya took 3 wickets, while Pollock bagged 2 wickets.

In reply, Mumbai Indians lost three quick wickets and were reeling at 25/3, but Bravo and Uthappa batted superbly to pull it off for the team. They put up an unbeaten partnership of 113 runs to see Mumbai Indians through. Bravo remained unbeaten on 64, while Uthappa remained not out on 34. Mumbai Indians reached the target in 18.4 overs. Bravo was declared 'Man of the Match' for his all-round performance.
