India fight back, South Africa bundled out for 265

South Africa lost quick wickets at regular intervals to succumb to an unprecedented bowling change launched by debutant skipper M S Dhoni. Dhoni impressed everyone with his strategies in the his first test as the captain. At one stage, South Africa were 152/1, but later lost quick wickets and managed to score 265 just before the end of the first day's play.

Smith was the top scorer with 69. Amla made 51. For India, Harbhajan and Ishant took 3 wickets each. Chawla took 2 wickets. Sehwag and Yuvraj shared 1 each. While Indian players were jubilant to restrict South Africa at 265, it would be interesting to see how the Indian batsmen apply themselves on a dusty and unpredictable wicket.
