Gilchrist scores fastest ton of the IPL, Deccan Chargers demolish Mumbai Indians

Adam Gilchrist finally regained his form and demolished the Mumbai Indians bowling attack with a 42-ball century. It rained boundaries and sixes on the ground and bowlers ran for cover, but Gilchrist showed no mercy. He scored the fastest century of the IPL so far.

The victory target was 155. But Gilchrist's devastating batting made a mockery of Mumbai team's bowling attack. The Deccan Chargers won their fist match in fourth IPL appearance, as they reached the target in just 12.4 overs without losing a wicket. Gilchrist remained unbeaten on 109 off 48 balls, while Laxman remained not out on 36. Gilchrist hit 10 sixes.

Earlier, the Mumbai Indians managed to score only 154/7 in 20 overs. Their batsmen never looked like playing a crunch game and threw their wickets out of desperation. Abhishek Nayar and Bravo scored 34 runs each. Pollock scored 31. For Deccan Chargers, RP Singh, Bangar and Afridi took 2 wickets each. Mumbai Indians lost their fourth successive match and is the only team to have a blank in the point table. Adam Gilchrist, who powered the Deccan Chargers to a 10-wicket win over Mumbai Indians was declared "Man of the Match".
