Indian Selectors announce Test Squad for series against South Africa

The long wait is over. Indian selectors finally announced the test squad for the upcoming test series against South Africa. Surprisingly, while the selectors laid red carpet for out-of-form Yuvraj Singh, they ignored in-form Gautam Gambhir. The 14-member squad was announced for the first two tests. Ishant Sharma was not selected, as he had not recovered from the finger injury.

Surprisingly, Harbhajan Singh did not turn up for the fitness test, while Yuvraj Singh arrived much later than the scheduled time. But they were 'rewarded' by the selectors for this 'indiscipline'. It's ironical that players are being selected despite not apprearing in the fitness test. It seems that Indian cricketers have become bigger than the board and selectors just believe their words without bothering to verify the truth.

The Team:

Anil Kumble (captain), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (vice-captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, R P Singh, S Sreesanth, Murali Kartik.
