Dhoni sacrifices Goat in a Ranchi Temple

Indian ODI skipper M S Dhoni is in news again, but not for cricket. Dhoni today visited a temple in Ranchi and sacrificed a goat as part of temple rituals. He was seen performing all religious functions along with the temple priest. He did so in the presence of some political leaders and officials.

Although animal sacrifice is very common in Jharkhand, the issue might snowball further, as Dhoni is associated with national pride and millions of cricket fans look to him as an idol. He has become a symbol of 'youth icon' in a very short period. However, the latest development could put him in trouble. The live footage of this ceremony is being telecasted by Star News, Aaj Tak and INDIA TV again and again.

I will be surprised if any non vegetarian says that this act is evil. If they do, they are hypocrites for sure. After all, they are killed because people are eating them.

Butchering animals = Eating meat = Eating fellow human being. All are equal sins in front of god.

What a shame !! All the youth that has been looking up to him as personification of confidence and courage so far will not be able to do so anymore.

I am a palaeontologist. Humans evolved to be the omnivores we are today. Adding meat to our vegetarian diet was important in the development of sophisticated brains, which help in thinking, analysing and problem solving. As for PETA (People Eating Tomato Atchar) they should stop the double standards. Kudos to Dhoni for practising his culture. He is proud of it, and he should be. I was born Christian, but am proud of my Hindu Ancestry. Shame to all the people who wrote-off him and his young brigade. They will go on to do great things without your support. To Dravid & Ganguly, please don't bring your tired, aging & mummifying bodies to T20 & ODI's. We need youngsters. Stick to test cricket where you can field off block shots or slip. Yes, you have done great things, but your shelf life is long expired! Indian cricket like our economy, strives to be dynamic, you will only slow us down!
