BCCI announces Cash Bonanza for Victorious Cricketers

It's raining cash on Indian cricketers yet again. After the remarkable tri-series win in Australia, the BCCI President Sharad Pawar has announced a cash reward of Rs. 10 crore ($25 million) to the victorious Indian team. In addition, national selectors of senior cricket team will get Rs. 1 crore. Selectors of the U-19 cricket team will also get Rs. 1 crore. In a surprise move, the BCCI has given Rs. 25 crore to the Sports Ministry for the development of other sports in the country.

President Pratibha Patil, PM Manmohan Singh, LS Speaker Somnath Chaterjee and many other eminent personalities have congratulated the Indian team. The victorious Indian cricket team will return home on March 06, 2008. They will get a Heroes' welcome in Delhi. The procession will begin from IGI Airport and a grand felicitation ceremony is being planned for the team in the capital. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has donated 31 acres of land to BCCI for establishing a training centre. More states and companies are expected to announce cash and other rewards for their respective cricket players.
