Samuels suspended by the ICC for suspect bowling action

West Indies' all-rounder Marlon Samuels has been suspended from bowling by the ICC because of a suspect bowling action. An Independent analysis of Samuels' bowling was performed by Dr Mark King at the National Cricket Academy at Loughborough University. According to King's reports, Samuel's arm straightens by more than the permitted 15 degrees when he bowls both his regular off-breaks and faster deliveries.

Although Samuels has been banned from bowling, he can still play as a batsman and can appeal against the verdict. Samuels was reported by umpires Simon Tauefel and Aleem Dar after the third test match against South Africa in January. Samuels can appeal for reconsideration, if he changes his bowling actions to suit the law.
