Muralitharan abused in Australia, Kangaroo fans throw eggs at him
In a shocking development, world's leading wicket taker and Sri Lankan off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan was abused by hostile cricket fans in Australia. The incident occured at Hobart, where Sri Lankan team is currently based to play in the tri-series against Australia and India. Some Australian fans threw eggs at Muralitharan and others hurled abuse at him. The Sri Lankan team immediately returned to the hotel amid heavy security arrangements.Sri Lanka team's media manager has confirmed the news. After the Harbhajan controversy, the latest reports proves how hostile the Australian crowd have become towards the subcontinent players. During the Twenty20 match at Melbourne, Harbhajan was booed and abused whenever he bowled, fielded and batted. If the Australian authorities don't rein in their fans, the Australian players would be in deep trouble when they visit India and Sri Lanka next time.

Australia have made snails pace at eliminating the racist attitude of it's population. The media here are the chief instigators of the Them versus US attitude that prompts people in this country to feel that they are superior to the rest of the world.
The Murali incident comes as no surprise bacause Aussies are brought up to believe they they are the superior race and those who may more talent than their own are not acceptable on this planet.
In time, when more crowds in the sub-continent begin to abuse and physically threaten the Aussies and give them a taste of their own medicine, they will open their eyes to the reality that what is good fot the goose is definitely good for the gander.
Maybe, the ideal answer is to knock them off that pedestial they have occupied for far too long because that may be another contributory factor to their feeling of superiority.
It's only now that the Aussies have apologized for stealing Aboriginal babies. They are not the country really to look towards enlightened views on anything.

However, it is also very sad to note that the Australians were the first 'white' team that toured India and encouraged the local development of the game in the days when England ruled the waves and would not let an 'Indian' team play against their boys just in case India won and the Empire fell.
Something obviously changed down the line.
