Umpires favor Symonds, Australia in command in Sydney Test
Veteran umpire Steve Bucknor committed the biggest blunder of his career by ruling Symonds not out when he clearly nicked to Dhoni off Ishant Sharma. At that stage, Australia was struggling after losing 6 wickets and Symonds was batting on 30.If that was not enough, the third umpire made another blunder by ruling Symonds not out on a stumping appeal, when TV replays showed that he was out. Later, he went on to score an unbeaten 162, which was enough for Australia to escape from an embarrassing position and put 463 on board. Brett Lee contributed 59. Kumble and R P Singh took 4 wickets each. Now the pressure is back on the Indians.
In reply, India started on a shaky note by losing Jaffer early. However, Dravid and Laxman fought back to put Indian on track. India were 117/1 when reports last came in. Laxman was batting on 82, while Dravid was batting on 25.
