Sony bags IPL rights

Sony has bagged the 10-year telecast rights for the BCCI's upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Sony won the bid by paying US$1.026 billion. As per the deal, Sony and Singapore-based WSG will pay $918 million for the telecast rights and $108 million for the promotion of the tournament. The IPL is scheduled to kick off on April 18, 2008.
