Injustice to Virender Sehwag, Consolation for Sachin Tendulkar
If we ask who should have received the "Player of the Match" for the Adelaide test, everyone would admit that ideal choice was Virender Sehwag. Sehwag scored 63 and 151 in both innings and bagged two important wickets including that of Ricky Ponting.Sehwag scored a century in the second innings when Indian batting line-up looked fragile with key players getting out and Dravid getting injured. While the entire team scored 269, Sehwag's contribution was 151. But the "Player of the Series" went to Sachin Tendulkar who scored 153 in the first innings. What could be the reason behind such a controversial decision???
Sachin was the highest run-getter in the series. But the panel wanted to award the "Player of the Series" award to Brett Lee who took 24 wickets in 4 test matches. That's why the "Player of the Match" award was given to Tendulkar as a consolation, but at the cost of Virender Sehwag.
