ICC takes on Sunil Gavaskar on "Harbhajan" issue
International Cricket Council (ICC) president-elect David Morgan has expressed concerns over cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar's recent comments on Match Referee Mike Procter in the wake of a controversial ban on Harbhajan Singh. Morgan said, Sunil Gavaskar, who holds the post of ICC Cricket Committee Chairman, should not have made such "outspoken comments". It could be recalled that Gavaskar slammed Procter after the later slapped a three-match ban on Harbhajan Singh on the racism charge made by Andrew Symonds, though there was no conclusive evidences against the Indian. Procter believed what Aussies said, whereas he completely ignored Sachin Tendulkar's statement.
A section of Australian media and some former cricketers such as John Reid (New Zealand) and Barry Richards (South Africa) had flayed Sunil Gavaskar for commeting against Mike Procter despite holding a top post within the ICC. Morgan admitted that there was concern within ICC about Gavaskar's dual role as the Chief of the Cricket Committee and as a commentator.
