Battle of Perth: Shaky start by Australia, India on Top

Pathan and RP Singh did, what Brett Lee and Shaun Tait failed to do. The Australians talked about finished it off in less than three days. But the determined Indian proved them wrong with a courageous display at Perth. First, India scored a competitive total of 330 in the first innings. Then, they removed three top order Australian batsmen with just 14 runs on board.

Pathan got the wickets of Jaques and Rogers, while R P Singh soon after removed Hussey for a duck. Australia were 22/3 when reports last came in. Ponting and Clake were batting (and battling) for Australian pride.
