Australia struggles in Sydney Test

Indian bowlers bowled superbly to prevent Australia from getting a big total. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Rudra Pratap Singh struck early by removing Hayden and Jacques. At one stage, Australia were 27/2.

Australia were 95/2 at lunch, thanks to a solid partnership between Ponting and Hussey. However, Harbhajan bowled a deadly spell after lunch and grabbed 2 wickets supported by RP Singh's 2 more wickets to reduce Australia to 134/6. Ponting made 55, while Hussey scored 41. Australia were 169/6 when reports last came in. RP Singh took 4 wickets, while Harbhajan took 2 wickets.
