Indian Cricketers to pay tax in Australia
Indian team manager for the Australian tour, Chetan Chauhan confirmed that Indian cricketers will adhere to Australia's tax laws and would pay all taxes. According to reports, Indian players were taken aback by the sudden change in Australia's tax laws that require them to pay heavy taxes. They were initially reluctant to pay taxes. However, later the BCCI persuaded them to adhere to the existing laws in the visiting country.The Indian cricketers could have to pay up to $1.5 million in tax this Australian summer. The BCCI has taken up the matter with Cricket Australia. It is expected that mater will be sorted out soon.
