Afridi, Gambhir fined

The verbal duel proved costly for Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi, as they were heavily penalized by the Match Referee Ranjan Madhugale. Shahid Afridi was fined 95 per cent of his match fee, while Gambhir was filed 65 per cent of his match fee. The duo went into an heated altercation and even came in physical collission during the 3rd ODI in Kanpur.

The verbal exchange erupted after Gambhir hit Afridi for a boundary. In the next ball, Gambhir took a single and they collided in that process. That followed by a heated altercation, which forced umpire Ian Gould to intervene. Gambhir was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for being found guilty of the offence of inappropriate and deliberate physical contact and 15 per cent of the match fee for the disrepute charge. Afridi was fined 75 per cent of his match fee for the offence of inappropriate and deliberate physical contact and 20 per cent of the match fee for the disrepute charge.
