Sreesanth Fined by Match Referee, But BCCI rewards Players

Indian Fast bowler S Sreesanth and has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for excessive appealing during the match against Australia. He was found guilty for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. Sreesanth was also issued a warning that he could have faced a stiffer punishment because of earlier contraventions.

The Indian team was also fined for maintaining a slow over rate, as it fell one over short. While the Indian team was fined 5 per cent of their match fee, skipper Dhoni was fined 10 per cent of his match fee.

However, there are cheers for Indian team from the BCCI. The BCCI congratulated the team for reaching the final of the Twenty20 World Cup and announced a reward of USD10 lakh (Rs. 4 crore) for the entire team. It also decided to present a sports car to Yuvraj Singh for his remarkable performance in the tournament.
