Pakistan storms into Twenty20 WC Final

After the "Bowl Out" loss to India, there was no looking back for Pakistan. The team entered the final of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup, after beating New Zealand by 6 wickets. New Zealand's batting line-up never looked in shape against Pakistani bowlers and Kiwis finished at 143/8 in 20 overs.

Although New Zealand started well, Pakistani bowlers got an upper hand after rain stopped the play for a while. Umar Gul extracted the most from the overcast condition and bagged 3 wickets. For New Zealand, Vincent made 28, while Ross Taylor scored an unbeaten 37.

The target proved to be meagre for the strong batting line-up, as the team reached the target by losing just 4 wickets with 7 balls to spare. Imran Nazir top-scored with 59. Hafeez made 32. Skipper Shoaib Malik also contributed an unbeaten 26. Umar Gul was declared "Man of the Match" for his superb bowling performance. Pakistan will meet the winner of Australia - India match in the final.
