India scored emphatic win over England

India finally found the elusive victory, when they beat England in the 5th one-dayer at Leeds. England won the toss and put India into bat. Indian openers Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly responded positively by adding 116 runs for the first wicket. Sachin scored 71, while Ganguly made 59. After their departure, Gambhir and Yuvraj played brilliant innings. Gambhir scored 51 and Yuvraj scored 72. Dhoni and Dravid made significant contribution to help India get past 300. India scored 324/6 in 50 overs.

England started the run chase on an aggressive note, but kept losing wickets on regular intervals. After heavy downpour halted the play for some time, the target was revised to 311 from 45 overs. Despite some good, aggressive batting performance by Prior, Bell and Collingwood, England failed to get the required runs.

When rain interrupted play again, England were 242/8 in 39 overs. India won the match by 38 runs with D/L method. For England, Prior and Bell scored 46 and 44 respectively. Collingwood scored an unbeaten knock of 91. Saurav Ganguly, who also took two crucial wickets, has been adjudged as "Man of the Match".
