Australia beat England to reach the Super 8

Australia recovered from the shocking loss to Zimbabwe a few days back and beat England by 8 wickets to reach the Super 8 stage. England too qualified for the second round on a better run average than Zimbabwe. England was dismissed for a paltry 135 in 20 overs. Andrew Flintoff top scored with 31, with Pietersen contributing 21.

In reply, Australia began the run chase on a high note and reached the target with 31 balls to spare. Matthew Hayden scored an unbeaten 67 off 43 balls. Adam Gilchrist made 45.
